Church of St. Nicholas

The Church founded in the Lesser Town of Prague represents the most remarkable Baroque building north of the Alps. Formerly a Gothic church from the end of the 13th century was rebuilt by Kryštof Dienzhofer in the years 1704-11. Works on the cupola were started by his son in 1737, and, in 1755, A. Luragho added the tall, slim bell-tower. Extensive frescos, created by Jan Lukáš Kraker in 1760 cover and area of about 1,500 square metres and are amongst the largest in Europe. The height is 75 metres, thus being the highest Prague interior.
