ZOO in Olomouc
In early 1950s there existed a small ZOO corner in Olomouc with the deer and exotic birds represented by the budgerigars, peafowls and a pair of pheasants. The great interest in this small corner probably stimulated the idea of its enlargement to the zoological garden. The new ZOO was inaugurated on the 3rd of June 1956. Among the first inmates were deers, foxes, a porcupine, a racoon and several kinds of birds. Today you can see the tropical pavilion of South America with anteaters, monkeys, armadillos, parrots and many others.
