Nepomuk
City of Nepomuk can be found in the picturesque Czech landscape of Western Bohemia, about 22 miles (35 km) southeastern of Plzeň City (Pilsen). The Nepomuk Region belongs among the sought-after tourist areas for its so to say virgin nature, where the peripheries of Brdské Mountain Chain and Šumava Foreland fade into one another, and for its cultural and historical heritage. The Zelená Hora manor house, the dominant feature and symbol of this region, entices us, already from
faraway, to pay a visit, and its name will remind many of us of the novel and the movie called Černí baroni (The Black Barons). Nepomuk has also become famous as a birthplace of renowned Bohemian Saint, the St. Jan Nepomucký. Nepomuk becomes the destination of many peregrinators on the anniversary day of this martyr's death.
