Zelena Hora Castle
Zelena Hora Castle
Zelena Hora Castle is situated in the picturesque landscape of the town of Nepomuk. Besides its rich history it has become well-known as the setting for a popular Czech comedy movie "Cerni baroni" about a special nonconformist soldier unit and foolish communist generals. Little respect to cultural values during the Communist era resulted in the fact that majority of the original equipment of the castle interiors were moved to nearby castles, lost or devastated by military personnel. Yet, visit of Zelena Hora is a memorable experience. The main exposition shows the history of the castle, formerly a famous monastery. Other expositions trace down the discovery of the "Zelena Hora manuscript", or display airborne, historical, and art photos of the castle and other attractions.
