Castle Ivančice
Castle Ivančice
In Ivančice - the native town of the painter Alfons Mucha and a Czech actor Vladimír Menšík - there is a castle. The caste is situated at a place of a former Gothic castle (1329) which was in the 16th century rebuilt into a comfortable Renaissance seat. Later it almost merged in the surrounding houses. One part of the object is also house Pírkovský which was built between years 1607 and 1611. The building has got significant cylindrical corner bay, Renaissance windows and a unique entrance portal with a sign of the family from Lipá. In the entrance hall you can see a cross arch and pargeted ribs. Today it serves as a seat of the Municipal office. Also very interesting are the expositions in the newly reconstructed Renaissance building of the old Town hall, one of the exposition is dedicated to Alfonse Mucha, which was opened on the 24th of July 2003, another exposition shows us life and work of the famous native from Ivančice - Vladimír Menšík which was opened on the 9th of October 1999. Through the whole exposition you will be followed by voice of this great comic and wonderful actor.
