Castle Rosice
Castle Rosice
In Rosice there used to be a fortress, which was founded probably in the second third of the 13th century. One of the most important owners of the castle were the Hechtové from Rosice, the Žerotínové and the Hausperští from Fanal. During the ownership of the Žerotínové, Rosice became a center of a religious group "moravských bratří" (Moravian brothers). In the end of the 17th century, a Renaissance castle with arcade courtyard was built at the place of the former original Gothic fortress, on the western border of the city. Later it was rebuilt in Baroque and empire style but in 1925 it was nationalized. After 1948 it was partly destroyed. Since 1989 the castle is under reconstruction and it is gradually gaining its original beautiful look. The sightseeing tour includes about 20 rooms. The oldest rooms are decorated by floral, figure and animal ornaments with many hidden meanings. Then you can see wonderful stucco ceilings, or a castle chapel with classicist paintings. The castle is opened for public.

Dominantou města Rosic je zámek na kopci nad soutokem Bobravy s Říčanským potokem. Poloha sama svědčí o původně obranném charakteru objektu, který byl později přestavěn.
