Zoo Hodonín
Zoo Hodonín
The zoo is located at a really nice place of the flood-plain forest. It spreads out on water and park areas of more than 7 hectares. It was founded in 1975 with only a few kinds of domestic animals under the name "ZOOKOUTEK". This facility was rebuilt in the last 25 years into a zoo. The old pavilions were reconstructed and some new pavilions were built (for example the pavilion of anthropoids, apes, the pavilion of exotical birds) and so a modern zoo fully adapted to the needs of many kinds of animals begins its existence. These days there are more than 700 kinds of both Czech and exotic animals in more than 160 species. The zoo breeds more than 70 endangered species of the worlds fauna. From the rare kinds of animals the visitors can see for example the chimpanzees, lemurs, orangutangs, gibbons, a collection of exotic birds, tigres, zebras, camels, sharks and many others.
