Baťa Canal Cruises
Baťa Canal Cruises
The Baťa Canal is a historical waterway built in 1936–38 in the lenght of 20 km. Nowadays, about 50 kilometers is served from Otrokovice to Rohatec, running partly down the Morava River and partly through a new artificial channel. The waterway construction was interrupted by the war, and navigation on the canal was completely terminated after 1960 for economic reasons. In 1993, the municipalities along the Morava River initiated efforts to renew the navigation and the water channel has gradually been reconstructed and made accessible four tourists. Sightseeing, picnic as well as educational cruises are being organized from various sites along the Canal.
