Falkenštejn

The ruin of the castle is situated about 5 kilometers north from Česká Kamenice. Originally it had an administrative and protective function, because it was situated near to a merchant way. The first note about the castle comes from the end of the 14th century, when the castle was a part of a stonemason estate. It was fulfilling its function for about 200 years, until the end of the 16th century, after that the castle had been always mentioned as desolated. Falkenštejn was a typical rock castle but now there are only empty rooms left carved into the rock.
