National castle Duchcov
It is a Baroque castle which was reconstructed in the beginning of the 19th century in the classical style. The last owners - the Valdštejnové - sold it in the beginning of the 20th century to the state of Czechoslovakia. The visitors can admire a big hall with family gallery and a fresco painting by V.V.Reiner, the rooms of the castle servants or the only museum of G.Casanova. The castle is situated right on the square of Duchcov. As a part of the visitation you can also see a famous staircase, Valdštejnská hall, classical hall with an exposition of graphic art from the 17th and 18th century, rooms of the servants of Valdštejns from the last third of the 18th century, Paris saloon and the library. A very attractive exposition is the apartment of Giacomo Casanova (study and bedroom), who lived his last 13 years of life in Duchcov where he worked as a librarian. There is also a permanent exposition - "Treasures of the Depositories". It is not allowed to park in the castle area, it isn´t allowed to bring dogs or any other pets in. You can take photograps and record only outside the castle.
