Brána Matky Boží (Holly Mother Gate)

The symbol of the town and the only gate that has been preserved until nowadays out of five medieval town gates. Its origin dates back to the second half of the 13th century when it was build as a part of the town bulwark system. It has been rebuilt several times in the 16th century, first in late Gothic style, later Renaissance elements were added. A specific feature of the gate is a tower with a large attic, accessible for tourists, and a tower clock installed in the 19th century.
