Kroměříž
Kroměří is a town that lies on the River Morava in North Moravia and that has a population of around 30 000 people. This noble town of fairytale beauty is full of historic monuments that commemorate tradition, culture, music, and education. Indeed it is often known as the Athens of the Hanácko region. The centre of the town is home to a Town Monument Reserve. Perhaps the jewel in the crown is the Archbishops Chateau, with its beautifully ornate rooms and valuable
collections of art. Indeed the local gallery is world-renowned. The chateau library is also home to collections of historical books, coins, and original musical scores. The floral garden is the work of Italian architects and is able to boast floral ornaments, fountains, arcade galleries, and a garden maze. The gardens and chateau itself have been listed in the UNESCO Register of World Monuments since 1998. Wine lovers will also be delighted by the Archbishops wine cellars, which havea hundred-year tradition of making sacramental wine.
