Franciscan Monastery in Uherské Hradiště

The Franciscan monastery in Uherské Hradiště was found in 1491 by bishop Jan Filipec. At the beginning of the 18th century it was rebuilt in the Baroque style. The most important room of the monastery is a refectory with an extraordinary art decoration built-up by Italian artist from Baltazar Fontana constituency. A Virgin Mary Annunciation Church is a part of the Franciscan monastery complex. The original gothic church was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The only original parts surviving are the peripheral walls with gothic pointed arched windows and the supporting pillars by the presbytery.
