Jeseníky Mountains

Kralický Sněžník (1,557 yards / 1,424 meters ASL), Keprník (1,556 yards / 1,423 meters ASL), Vysoká Hole (1,601 yards / 1,464 meters ASL), Mravenečník (1,468 yards / 1,343 meters ASL), and many others. The deep valleys and the mountain rivers are found within the mountain ridges. Two rivers head here, the Tichá Orlice River that flows into Elbe, and the longest Moravian river called the Morava River. From the environmental protection viewpoint, this area is one of the richest botanicalregions in the Czech Republic. The scrub was artificially planted at the edge of a forest in the higher locations and that caused creation of unique botanical sites. The piedmont plains of Jeseníky Mountains gradually transfer into the fertile Moravian lowlands.

Climate conditions in Jeseníky Mountains can be characterized as mild cold. Do not expect the high temperatures here even during the summer months. For this reason and for the reason of unfavorable soil conditions as well,which were not suitable for agricultural development, this region has never been densely populated. Historically, the region had been successful in mining the mineral raw materials, and in the ferrous metallurgy and glass industry. The climate and nature conditions however became the base for the fact the region had become very attractive from the tourist industry viewpoint. You can find here excellent conditions for hiking, bicycle tourism, and winter sports. The climate conditions and themineral springs caused the creation of renowned health resort towns like the Jeseník with the “Priessnitzovy lázně” (Priessnitz Health Resort), “Lipová-lázně” (Lipová-Health Resort), Karlova Studánka, and Velké Losiny. There are many marked hiking routes available, as well as a number of recreational and sport centers.

The region is indeed rich in its cultural, historical and sacral sights aside from its active rest and sport activities. We can find a number ofattractive tourist spots here. The nature alone has provided the original experiences. We can for instance see the Na Pomezí Caves and the Na Špičáku Caves, the Nýznerov Waterfalls on the "Stříbrný potok" (Silver Creek), the beautiful forests, even the exceptional vistas and lookout towers at Zlatý Chlum, the Praděd Mountain, Háj u Šumperka, or at the Biskupská kupa Mountain above Zlaté Hory. From the memorials of human activities, we should not forget the towns of Jeseník,Šumperk, Velké Losiny with a Manor House, Hand Paper Mill and the Museum of Paper, Branná and its territorial Kolštejn Castle and Staré Město pod Sněžníkem, which is the point of departure into the area of Kralický Sněžník Mountain. Because the region is extensive, we will only perfunctorily mention some of the most known cities and villages. These are the following: Zlaté Hory, Vrbno pod Pradědem, Bruntál, Javorník, Mikulovice u Jeseníku, Krnov, Úsov, Rýmařov, andZábřeh.

From the other sights, we can for instance mention the Janský vrch Manor House that is renowned for its exhibition of the Vratislav Bishops’ inhabitation lifestyle and for the biggest collection of smoking pipes in the Czech Republic, and at the same time, the manor house is the National Monument. Furthermore, there is the Manor House in Úsov, or today, you can find the “National History and Geography Museum of Jeseníky Region” in the former fortress from the 13thcentury in Jeseník, the National History and Geography Museum and the Swimming Center in Šumperk, and also the Museum of Vintage Cars in “Česká Ves” (Bohemian Village). A number of old castle ruins can be found within the region.

The Jeseníky Mountains, which are famous for its beautiful and clean nature, healing mineral springs, and for its fresh air environment, have the adequate available capacity for your accommodations. The Jeseníky Mountains provide blueberry shrubs,cranberries and heaths, evergreen forests, abundance of wildlife, meadows, and brooks.
