Important cities are located at the mountain base along the entire mountain chain. The Regional Capital Cities of Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary are the most important ones. The other cities are Teplice, Bílina, Litvínov, Most, Chomutov, Kadaň, Klášterec nad Ohří, Nejdek, and others. The border ridge of Ore Mountains steeply falls onto the Czech side. You can find a number of historical sights and historical town reserves here, together with abeautiful nature.
The Ore Mountains balneology is for instance represented by the world-renowned health resorts like Kyselka in Klášterec nad Ohří, Teplice Health Resort, and Bílina Health Resort. Aside from the developed balneology, the Ore Mountains entice the lovers of winter sports. Excellent conditions are being offered by the winter resort centers like Abertamy, Bouřňák, Boží Dar, Cínovec, Jáchymov, Klínovec, Kovářská, Kraslice, Pernink, Telnice, and many others.The Ore Mountains are interwoven by tenths of miles of cross-country skiing tracks. The mountains also offer a number of opportunities for summer vacations, mountain hiking, or bicycle trips. A number of nature trails and hiking routes, which are primarily suitable for hikers, also continue into neighboring Germany. Even the network of marked bicycle routes is being quickly developed within the region. There is enough lodging capacity for tourists.
Aside from the other cities alreadymentioned, among the most interesting tourist spots in the area belongs for example the Town of Krupka, where you can see the castle together with other historical sights, or where you can visit the City Museum with an exhibition devoted to tin mining. The following are the examples of well-preserved historical sights: Horní Castle – Hauenštejn, Hněvín Castle, Bečov nad Teplou Castle and Manor House, Jezeří Manor House, Valeč Manor House, Ostrov Manor House, Klášterec nad OhříManor House, Duchcov State-Owned Manor House, and others. You can also view the area from a number of beautiful vistas represented by the lookout towers of Diana, Bučina u Kyselky, Zitina rozhledna, and “Tisovský vrch” (Tisov Hill). You can visit the Chomutov Zoopark, Zubrnice Museum of Folk Architecture, AQUACENTRUM water park in Teplice, and it would certainly be worthwhile to see the Japanese Garden in Karlovy Vary and the Ústí nad Labem Zoological Garden.
The Ore Mountainshad suffered considerable environmental damages in the past. The countryside is now being gradually healed up, and the increasing number of visitors and the development of tourist infrastructure are the proofs of the successful renovation. For many of us, the Ore Mountains are becoming the pleasant vacationland again.
