The region has been populated since the ancient times. Among the important urban centers indisputably belongs the city of Uherské Hradiště. The historic town was founded by the king Přemysl Otakar II as earlyas in 1257 as a defense fortification against the Hungarians. It is located near the important place of pilgrimage called Velehrad. The second important center of the region is Hodonín, which is located on the border of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic within the fertile lowland featuring vineyards, alluvial forests, and the acres of fertile fields. An enjoyable ambiance is complemented by the wine cellars and by the unmistakable local dialect. The first notes about the ancient townof Hodonín originate as early as in 1196. Hodonín is a birthplace of the first Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. .
The Moravian Slovakia has a perfect base for an active rest and recreation. You will find here the several tenths of kilometers of winter cross-country running tracks and more than one winter sport center, for example the Mikulčin vrch, Javorník nad Veličkou, Nezdenice, Velká Javořina, Stráně, or Stupava ve Chřibech. For a summer time we recommendthe region to the bicycle tourists, who are popular in here and quite the thick network of the bicycle routes serves as an evidence of this. The region is interwoven by a network of the Moravian wine routes. You can practice hiking, bicycling or horse riding within the entire area. We recommend a unique combination of the water route and the bicycle roads, which is the technical monument called Baťa’s canal. An original industrial arterial road has been changed to the tourist water routefeaturing a number of ports. You can rent a boat, or you can participate on a cruise lasting several days on which you can get to know the places around this water route and its vicinity. Deep forests of the White Carpathian Mountains can be the oases of calm for you; on the other hand the sandstone rock climbers can raise their adrenaline by climbing the rock formations in Chřiby. Lovers of water attractions and fishing will certainly appreciate the Ostrožská lakes. The mineral healingsprings in this region gave the incentive for creation of the spa places of Ostrožská Nová Ves, Lázně Leopoldov and Lázně Hodonín. .

Furthermore you can visit the towns of Bzenec, Dubňany, Kyjov (featuring the manor), important folk center of Strážnice (featuring the museum in the nature and the manor), Veselí nad Moravou manor, town of Vracov, town of Ždánice (featuring thebaroque manor), and village of Čejkovice that features the original Knight Templar citadel with a spacious underground that has been reconstructed to the manor. Čejkovice also features an exhibition about the life of T. G. Masaryk. You can also visit the Žarošice place of pilgrimage, or the town of Mikulčice featuring an important National Cultural Monument called Mikulčice. A set of original wine cellars in Petrov called Plže is the monument reserve, there is a manor in the village ofMilotice, windmill in Kuželov and Starý Poddvorov, or you can visit the well-known wine villages of Čejč and Mutěnice.
The cultural and folk tradition makes Moravian Slovakia the popular destination, where we can still see the banquets, wine tasting, rides of kings, and the national costume celebrations accompanied by the folk songs and the handicrafts. As you can see for yourself, the Moravian Slovakia region is a remarkable area that is absolutely worth of visiting.
