Important Czech rivers of Vltava, Otava and Lužnice are flowing through here and they are known especially to water sportsmen and anglers. Most part of the region is covered by forests and fishponds, which are often part of the natural territories and biospheric reserves.

Technical monuments represent the remains of the Schwarzenberg navigation canal and the Lipno water reservoir, which is a favorite recreation spot. The former County Capital of Prachatice has a character of the Bohemian Forest town with a beautifulsurrounding nature. In the Prachatice region, we can find the town of Netolice, of which the historical center is the city monument zone, the town of Vimperk with a manor and a museum, the town of Volary, and the scattered mountain settlements, piedmont hamlets and panoramic vistas of the Bohemian Forest. Another regional center is the town of Jindřichův Hradec. It is one of the most beautiful Czech towns. We can see one of the biggest manors in the Czech Republic in this ancient historicalsettlement, the manor of Jindřichův Hradec. The Minorite Cloister is one of the other noteworthy monuments.
