Gombasecká Cave
Gombasecká Cave
Gombasecká Cave belongs among the most important caves of the Slovak Karst National Park. The main features that attracts visitors are thin and hollow straw stalactites with a maximum length of about 3 m. The drip stones are so dense in some places that they remind stone of rain. The cave system (total lenght 1 525 meters) was discovered in 1951 and a trail of 285 m was made accessible to the public in 1955. Since 1968, the cave is used also for speleotherapy thanks to favourable microclimatic effects. It was inscribed on the UNESCO´s World Heritage List as a part of the "Caves of Slovak and Aggtelek Karst" in 1995.
